Dactylorhiza romana.
Orchis de Rome.
Roman orchid.

Medium-sized orchid with white or pink flowers (there are intermediate forms). When the color is clear, the labellum is normally concolorous with sepals and petals. Depending on the location, it can be confused with species of similar color and size. For the white form of D romana with Orchis provincialis (Orchis of Provence) or Orchis pauciflora (Orchis pauciflora). The presence of clearly visible bracts as well as the higher density of flowers in Dactylorhiza romana quickly dispels any doubt. The three species mentioned share the same biotopes to add to the confusion: edges, light woods, and also, but a little more rarely, in full light.
